Read chapter 7.1-7.5 of the textbook (Smith).

1. Explain or define the following concepts (from Smith)
   1. photographic density
   2. partial dispersion
   3. materials such as CER-VIT and ZERODUR
   4. gradient index glass
   5. list infrared transmitting materials NOT transparent in the visible

2. Do problems 1-5 through 1-7 from the class notes.

3. Given the lens description in problem 2-1 of the class notes. Use Matlab to draw the lens and calculate the edge thicknesses of the three lenses.
