Munich, Germany

This one-meter resolution image of Munich, Germany was taken by Space Imaging's IKONOS satellite on Sept. 3, 2001. The image shows Munich's historical district centered on the Marienplatz fountain and the Altes Rathaus (Old Town Hall). Also visible is the New Town Hall, the famous Hofbräu Haus, the farmers' market, and St. Peter's Church, one of Munich's oldest churches with a 56-meter tower. Also visible is the Isar River and the Deutsches Museum, the largest science, engineering and technology museums in the world. Imagery such as this can be used for mapping, zoning, urban planning, telecommunications, national security, infrastructure planning, disaster assessment, agriculture and forestry.
