ECE 538 Assignment 1

  1. Install Microsoft Visual Studio, Java, and Python on your notebook computers.

    You can download Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 from http://software.udayton.edu. If you are adventurous you can download a trial of Visual Studio 2010 from http://msdn.microsoft.com.

    You can download Java SE 6 from http://java.sun.com

    You can download Python from http://www.python.org I suggest downloading 2.6.5. I'm currently running 2.5

  2. Do web searches on C++, object-oriented programming, Java, and Python. Prepare a list of the most promising and information sites.

  3. There are no official textbooks for this course. Visit the UD library and select several books that look good to you. Search sites such as amazon.com for other titles, and see which ones you can find on OhioLink.

  4. Setup your notebook computers to run C++ and Java from the command window. See class notes: Introduction for suggestions.

  5. Show me you can compile C, C++, Java, and Python programs from a console window, by modifying the AddArray programs to print out your name before printing the sum of integers.

    Submit console output or other evidence - in a Word or powerpoint document. Include your source programs as well.
